
It appears there was a way to access the computer without a user's name or password. The need for a password to login may stem from this story I find that I get "reminders" each time Firefox updates as my "home page" is set to Apple Discussions welcome page. My decision was coupled with an upgrade to the iPhone iOS and needing to verify that it was allowed to login to the iCloud ID. I must admit that I resisted 2 step verification for a long time but I felt in Sierra that I had to accept that it was the way things were going because of the Verification codes that seem to be generated even when you don't need them - which it seems the app(s) still want before they get any where.


You also appear to have responded to unitD before this post saying his/her instructions had "fried iMessage, my Keychain, everything" I am not entirely sure which of my posts you were linking into.
